Illustrations with additional digital formatting
Beowulf Cover
This illustration was created to be a book cover for the epic poem Beowulf. I chose the Seamus Heaney translation in order to include an author on the page. Watercolor was used in the traditional aspect of this illustration, along with text formatting in Adobe Illustrator.
The Story of Lightning and Thunder
The Story of Lightning and Thunder is a Nigerian folktale that explains the origin of thunderstorms. A fountain pen and India ink were used for the traditional media aspect, while Adobe InDesign was used to format the text of the fable.
Editorial Illustration
For this editorial illustration, a feature and a spot illustration were required. A fountain pen and India ink were used in this piece, along with a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for formatting purposes.
Article Illustration
This image was created in digital media, and was drawn and formatted completely in Adobe Illustrator. This piece was inspired by Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam.
Magazine Cover
This was a magazine cover illustration for a previous issue of the company Smith & Hawken. The illustration was done completely in watercolor, and formatted in both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Op Ed Illustration
This illustration was created for an opinion editorial piece on raising the minimum wage for fast-food workers. The Union Shield penny design inspired this piece, but instead of a shield a french-fry container took it’s place. The traditional media used was acrylic paint, and the text was digitally formatted in Adobe Illustrator.
2020 Calendar Poster
This project took over the span of twelve weeks, one illustration per week, for a 2020 Calendar poster. Each illustration featured a hedgehog dressed for each month of the year. The media used was watercolor and ink, and the final poster was formatted in Adobe Illustrator.
Self-Portrait Playing Card
These series of illustrations and patterns were created to be placed on a playing card. The digital drawing and formatting were completely done in Adobe Illustrator.
